Current paintings reflect the transitory nature of structures around the City of Perth. The constant reincarnation of the city responding to new ideas about people in the built environment creates these interruptions displaying the process of change.
I was drawn to the underlying structures of new buildings, usually partitioned off and out of sight, as things having beauty and representing important phases of the reconstruction. They seemed to represent a process that was quiet and unobserved.
This theme found resonance with the reincarnation concept of life being a constant renewal process with fleeting memories like dreams that emerge for the briefest second and then retreat again. The atmospheric rendering of these transitory events attempts to represent this ephemeral evidence.
